Now we are on the stage of empathy. In this stage we have to observe users and their behaviour, interact and involve with them and we also experiment what they experiment.
To work on that, we ended with a homework last week: "doing interviews". Interviews are exploratory conversations to understand motivations, frustrations, attitudes. We prepared questions in Google Drive and then we met on Friday morning to find people. After interviewing 22 people, including children, psychologists, school’s directors, parents, etc., we transcribed and filled out a form that included a description of the person, the information that surprised us and the hypotheses about the reasons of their behaviors.
Last part of the week, we try to identify insights with that information to define problems. An insight is something that you discover that people did not know what they knew about themselves. Also, we used a tool called classified ad, which you rewrite what you found completing this phrase: (The user) needs (need) because (insight). In this way, we discussed a little more and defined six problems which are interesting for us.
